No matter what journey your life is taking, there are times when you need to learn something new. Sometimes it's a life long goal you are aiming to achieve, sometimes out of necessity. The skill of 'surfing' the waves of emotion in our lives is what I have become aware of this week. Once you know the skills, you can apply it to many things.
We are all aware that we have ups and downs emotionally, especially us women. But we try to control it, and remain level...flat in our emotions, especially the sadder emotions. But controling our emotional 'waves' is about as possible as controling literal waves in the ocean- it's not! So what do we do? We need to accept them for what they are, and like a wave, the falls will gently rise, and the rises will gently fall.
Michelle B this week likened them also to cravings. Anyone who is a woman, emotional, trying to loose weight or just human will have suffered from cravings at sometime or another. But just like emotions, cravings too will die away and this has happened to me especially in the last week!! I realised, that at the usual 8pm, I haven't begun the hunting and gathering in the fridge like I used to! Even at the beginning of this program, there was the option of supper on some days of a square of chocolate and a cup of tea. Well. I had it nearly every night!! Now looking back over the last week and a half, once dinner was over, I was satisfied. The craving never came!!
I can proudly say that yes, I am learning to surf the waves of cravings and emotions and accept them for what they are, but know that I have the WILLPOWER to overcome them!!
So if you have a craving today, why not try to get on board and ride it out to the other side!!
