A weighty issue

Wednesday...weigh in day!! (said in a sing-song voice)

Today is week 3 weigh in day! Week 3!! Time is definately flying by! What is even better, this week I have had my largest weightloss since beginning my 12WBT journey!! 1.2kg in a week!! WOOHOO for me! This brings my total weightloss so far to over 5kg!!

Now, hearing that you may think that I have been powering on, training 5 hours a day and eating carrots and celery for breakfast, lunch and tea...Well, that is NOT even close to what I have been doing. Since last posting, I have had quite a few ups and downs. Emotional craziness, work stresses, upside down household, the works. This has created several 'indiscretions' with my diet and I haven't exercised since Saturday!! So, no, not a perfect week and a half but, I have had a few insights into my soul along the way.

My first big insight is that it's true, you don't forget how to ride a bike!! For my big training session on Saturday, I went on a bike ride along the beautiful Riesling Trail. I am so surprised at how far I got!! In total it was 6kms! Here is the photo I took when I turned for home....
Another insight, is that even when I was eating 'off the wagon' I was still trying to find the healthiest option!! My thinking towards food has changed and I hope that it changes forever!! The biggest proof of this is that due to a frantically busy weekend, I didn't get the chance to go and shop for all the food on the nutrition plan set for me. Previously this would mean a rotation of takeaway foods every night until I went and did the food shopping. But I can proudly say, we haven't had takeaway!! I have been able to use food left over from previous weeks or simply a quick trip to the butcher and the fruit'n'veg shop has given me everything I need. The plus to this is that I have avoided the supermarket and the dreaded Chocolate Aisle!

Taking the time for myself has been such a rewarding experience. Although some things are lacking, (anyone want to do some house cleaning??), I know I will get on top of it eventually and like the safety instructions on an aeroplane, you need to put your own air mask on before you can help others..like my family.

What have you done for yourself today?

xx
