Was that an earthquake??

Running....not my strongest suit. In primary school I was the fastest Year 4..even had to run in the Year 5 relay to make up the team! Whoop Whoop! Once I hit high school running wasn't really the thing and everyone in my year level was older than me, so why bother, right??

Anyway, since then, other than running after children, running has not been a feature of my life. I admire people who get up and go for a run whenever they need to clear their head. So as part of the preseason 12WBT, we have to right down our goals. After mulling over this, since goals are also a new part of my life,  I have realised I want to run. By the end of 12 weeks, I would like to run 5 kms!! Wooooo...Now that is out there...how the heck am I going to do it??

On the 12WBT forums they speak about a program called C25K-Couch to 5km. It is an app or a podcast that can get you off the couch and runnng 5km in 8 weeks!! It tells you how and when to run...sounds exciting? I have only had a quick look at it and seems simple enough. Day one, brisk walk for 5 mins then, 60 sec running, 90 sec walking, 60 sec running, etc. It can't be that hard can it?

On my walk this morning, I had a sudden burst of energy (actually the dogs were barking madly at the dogs on the other side of the road and I wanted to get out of there!!) and...I...ran!! That's right, RAN! And not just a bit of a shuffle and then wind back down, a full on run down the road and when I was far enough away from the apparent offensive dogs on the opposite side of the road..I kept running!! I can tell you it felt awesome, and is why having the goal of runing 5 km was cemented in my mind!

So when was the last time you ran??

P.S. Sorry to everone in the valley for the earthquake type ground movement that occured during the burst of running this morning!!!
