Mirror Mirror

As women, it is expected that we look at ourselves in the mirror at least once a day. We all will know someone who likes to do it a bit more often than that, but we will leave them alone today!

For me, over the last year, I have tried to avoid looking in mirrors. I was always disappointed with what I saw. I had to do the usual looking to ensure I was putting my makeup on correctly, or that my skirt wasn't stuck in my undies, but other than that...no looking, never!

All women know that there are good mirrors and bad mirrors. Dress shops usually have the good ones...gyms the bad ones!! So you buy the too tight jeans, and work out like a fiend to try to fit them!!!

Now that I am 12kg lighter, I don't avoid the mirror so much. Whilst dressed that is, clothing is amazing the way it hides the imperfections that are all we see when not clothed. As I mentioned in my last post, I recently became a size 12 woman. What surprised me the most is the idea I had in my head, of what a size 12 person looks like, unclothed. I tell you now it isn't what I am presented with when I look in the mirror!!! Although I can see the changes in my body, I can see what still needs to change.

What has surprised me the most is what effect this has had on me. The old me would have thought 'All this effort and STILL I need to do more????' But the new me, has joined a gym and is exercising 5 days a week!! Speaking to those in the know, running is the best way to tone up, so I am now a runner!!

Round 2 of the 12 Week Body Transformation has also begun pre-season. The first two tasks have been about excuses and goals. Even though the information given was the same as last round, I found I heard it differently and was able to discover new excuses and set more specific goals, even non- fitness ones.

Both of these tasks are also like looking in a mirror. To be totally honest and lay all your excuses 'out there', you have to take a look at yourself, and sometimes what you see isn't what you like. But by taking it in and not hiding behind things (excuses) it gives you the best opportunity to change. With my excuses now written down and the resolution right under them, it is now up to me to make those changes and follow through with them.

No more excuses!!

So here is to all mirrors being GOOD mirrors!!!
